SPRAVATO® is a prescription medicine, used along with an antidepressant taken by mouth to treat: 

• Adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) 

• Depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) with suicidal thoughts or actions 

SPRAVATO (esketamine) is a nasal spray that you self-administer while supervised in our office. It's combined with a daily oral antidepressant. 

If you are prescribed SPRAVATO, you'll have treatments twice a week for the first four weeks. There is 2 hours of mandatory monitoring in the office and then you are not permitted to drive or use machinery the rest of the day after the treatment, so plan for car rides and rest. After the first four weeks, you will have a SPRAVATO treatment once weekly for a month, and then based on your response, you may continue weekly treatments or step down to having treatments every other week.

Only you and your provider can determine which treatment is right. SPRAVATO is for people with TRD who have tried two or more antidepressants during their current depressive episode. It's not recommended if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding.
